This Rolex 31mm! Jumbo compared to the lapis TTDJ (teeny tiny Datejust) sitting next to it. But, really, this size feels kind of perfect. When I tried it on, it was like I was Cinderella and this was the slipper. It has a magic quality to it, accentuated by the rare-ish silver dial (typically, on this particular model, you'd see a champagne dial). The oh, so light silver gives this piece a more muted quality, contrasting with the relatively flashy two-tone Jubilee bracelet. Okay, I'm gushing, I'll stop now.

THE NITTY GRITTY:
A very good looking and clean example of the 31mm size Datejust. Being a child of the late 1980’s, this is an early sapphire crystal example after the brand upgraded and moved away from using the acrylic. It has a quick set date function, making it more practical.
The dial is a more unusual silver sunburst finish. The classic color for this model, in two-tone, is the gold dial, or the slightly lighter champagne. The luminous material used on the dial is tritium, hence the “T Swiss T” marking at the base of the dial. It is all original and remains untouched and in excellent condition featuring all lume plots intact, which have toned into a pretty light ivory color. This aging process will continue over time, and they will become even more attractive.
The serif printing of the text and chapter hash marks are in black, which really pop from the dial, and are complemented by the triangular shaped stick markers that have fine trenchline running through the center. The classic, eighteen carat gold, baton hands are fitted and also contain the original luminous material, which matches the plots perfectly and respond the same under ultraviolet light.
The stainless steel and eighteen carat yellow gold case features the classic coin edge bezel, along with exposed lug holes for the bracelet attachment. The case has been polished, but remains sharp with solid lugs and angles. The watch is fitted to its original two tone Rolex Jubilee bracelet. The bracelet is in excellent condition with very little wear or sag, with 5 removable links to help adjust sizing. This is a popular sized watch for someone to wear everyday. It is not so small that it can be hard to read, but not too big to be cumbersome.
